Amy Shannon, Manawatu local and graphic design extraordinaire, is the one-woman-band behind LindyLou & Bina 2. That interesting name! “Lindylou was my mum’s nickname as a wee girl and mine was Bina.” Getting her design talent from a very creative mum, Amy thought it was only fitting to combine these nicknames into one.

Amy’s items are 100% New Zealand designed and made. Initially creating her Numbers Book as a graphic design assignment at Uni, she decided to properly publish it and now uses local Manawatu operators for printing and binding. She also has great attention to detail: Her books are made with fabric spines giving wee ones a nice texture to touch/feel, and her friezes hang individually from wooden pegs, giving them a rustic flair.

“I wanted to create something a bit different and more subtle than other books. I wanted to make the characters pop to interest kids but also appeal to adults not wanting to have such bright and overpowering pieces for their children”.
